Random Thoughts #20

It’s Monday, I didn’t want to get out of bed, and my allergies have my brain wandering the paths of misfiring synapses. On the plus side, I’ve had my coffee. These are some random TTRPG thoughts.

  1. Ecclesicon was wonderful, and I’m seeing a lot of the attendees pop in to each other’s discord servers and commenting on each other’s streams. This is awesome.
  2. My pool of potential players for game tests has expanded. This makes me happy and means I might be able to attempt some more actual play streams as well!
  3. I’m always honored when someone invites me to join a table.
  4. Forbidden Lands has reached a high spot in my review queue, and I’m planning a test crawl soon!
  5. I played BFRPG in person for the first time at Ecclesicon. Dave Ward, who rolled up a character so he could play at the con, is now joining the party as a regular. Yay!
  6. Circumstances keep getting in the way of my Monday group completing our Shadowdark funnel. Arrrrggghhh!
  7. One of my players recently told me, “You’ve turned me into a mechanics snob, and I love it.” Achievement unlocked 1.
  8. If you’ve never been to a convention, I recommend it. It might be better to start small, unless you’re a true extrovert, but conventions are a ton of fun. One cool aspect you meet folks who become “convention friends” and it makes going back even more fun.
  9. I have enough cameras to do an in person actual play stream. it’s the mics that are vexing me. It might be fun for a charity event, though.
  10. I’ve been asked to do a one shot day over the Summer. The problem is I don’t have a space I can air-condition well enough to make it comfortable. But it would be fun.
  1. If I’m counting right, he’s played nine different systems in the three years he’s been playing.

  1. #1 – I agree!

#3 — Isn’t that the best feeling? For me it is. Like wow. Little ol’ me?? 😄

#7 – I’d like to know more about that!

#8 – Agree. I registered for PAGE 2 right after Ecclesicon. Random observation: Sometimes the noise and long gaming sessions can be a bit much for the introverts among us – that’s why having a hotel room to decompress is a must for me to fully enjoy the event.

Best wishes for quick allergy relief!

  2. #1 — agree!! Looking forward to next year!

#3 — Isn’t that the truth? What a great feeling.

#7 – I’d like to know more about that!

#8 – Agree 💯. For introverts especially – it helps to have a hotel room to rest mentally and physically from the noise/activity/long gaming sessions etc. I call it recharging.

Wishing you relief from those pesky allergies!

    • The best part about comments on these is that I need to go back and remember what the numbers were!

#1 Cool! I can’t link the username with folks at the con…you were there? What games did you play? Inquiring minds want to know!

      #3 It is!

#4 Basically he’s down for fast mechanics that get out of the way but are meaningful. His favorite system so far is Numenera.

#8 Introverts unite! Quietly while reading books in separate nooks.

Thanks, the trees are trying to kill me.
