It’s Tuesday. Coffee has been consumed and my neural pathways are waking up with spurts and sputters. It’s time for some random TTRPG thoughts!
- I am rather fortunate that most of the folks I play with don’t limit themselves to a single game or system.
- I’m planning to run a Symbaroum adventure soon. When I do I’ll have played three of the “medieval fantasy” games Free League puts out. At that point I may have to do a comparison video.
- I’ll want to run Into the Odd at some point as well.
- If you haven’t checked out Daddy Rolled a 1’s YouTube channel, go do it.
- I will play a one shot in a game that’s designed to encourage min/max character builds. But I kinda find them boring, to be honest. If you get low initiative you wait around forever as everyone cycles through all the stuff they can do. It doesn’t make them bad games, people love them. It’s just not my cup of tea.
- Over the last couple of months I’ve taken some advice shared by Professor Dungeon Master to not cancel sessions when people can’t make it. Instead, if it’s a beat in my main campaign where I really need the bulk of the party to be there, I’ll just check out another system. That way I can see what it’s like to run, and the players can see what they think of it. This is how I introduced Dragonbane to the group, and folks love it. It also opens up opportunities for me to invite some other folks to play.
- Remember, make space for other players to be involved during a session.
- I need to set up a morning game session at some point so I can drink coffee while GMing 1.
- By my count I’ve now run ten different systems. Sounds like a perfect time to do a top 10 video!
- There are so many games. So many wonderful games. I’m glad in the Internet Age it’s easier to find people with whom I can play them.

Without then having to stay up all night. ↩
