So far today I have imbibed caffeinated elixir, eaten a mediocre asiago bagel, and realized I should have let a friend know I was shutting down a facebook profile. My synapses are misfiring in beautiful ways, and who knows where they will lead my mind. These are random TTRPG thoughts.
- I don’t know why people can’t be satisfied with just not liking a game. I have reasons I don’t like 5e but that’s the end of it. The game is fine, it’s just not for me. It doesn’t make it a bad game or mean that people who play it are [insert derogatory comment here].
- I do encourage players to experience more than one game, and multiple genres. Broadening perspective is a good thing, even if we still prefer one system or genre over another.
- I want to run some Cypher System Super Heroes soon.
- We finished our Into the Odd crawl the other day. Every character but one died. But wow is it a fun system to run. It’s so fast!
- DM Tales hit 3000 subscribers! Follow the link and watch the video before noon on July 21 for a chance to win the Cypher System Rulebook!
- I also want to run a Savage Worlds fantasy adventure soon.
- I have begun to write my Heckin’ Good Doggos review.
- Don’t forget to sign up to be reminded about Ironbound‘s Backer Kit campaign! It’s a cool urban fantasy setting and wild system.
- Dan from Avenue Studios wants me to spend all the money for all the games. I think I’m grateful for this. I think.
- I require more shelf space.

1. I think this one comes down to human nature. Tribalism is strong in the genes.
2. You know, I used to be one of those 5e only people. I learned it really well and felt comfortable in the system. But, once I was forced to try some other systems, I found that they were all pretty cool and offered something entirely different than 5e could on its own.
3. Thanks for sharing this. I am always looking for the ideal superhero system. Never seen this one!
4. Same as above! If you’re into niche systems, might I suggest Trilogy by Ben Moxon and “I’m sorry did you say street magic” by Caro Asercion?
5. Congratulations!
6. Savage Worlds is super cool. Do it.
7. Sounds like something my players would like.
8. I’ve seen this one and remember rejoicing at the golden age of indie TTRPG development.
9. It’s pretty great to get support, aint it?
10. Same. My wife is a librarian, but I don’t think all my stuff meets her collection policy for our home library. Might need to move some stuff to the office.

Thanks for the comment!
I do wish we could reduce the tribalism. Except when it comes to Philly born Dallas Cowboy fans. Some things…
I will check out the other systems!
Cypher System is the actually rulebook. The link is to the super hero supplement. Which is pretty good.
Heckin’ Good Doggos is.. interesting.

You joke about the Cowboys, but it’s something that I’ve put a lot of thought into – sports rivalry. My oldest son has become an athlete, in spite of my entire lack of athleticism. What is the best way for me to model a healthy enjoyment of sports?
Just some more thoughts.
