Random TTRPG Thoughts #35

It’s Tuesday. The house is quiet, and I’m sipping coffee. It’s been a rough week, so my body is a bit confused by this moment of relative peace. These are random TTRPG thoughts, but real-life has got to poke in a bit.

  1. My town is processing community grief this week. Last Thursday a HS student was struck and killed by a train, and I have no turn of phrase to describe the emotional gamut we’re all experiencing.
  2. Last Thursday evening I needed something to calm my brain from the tragedy. So we held my Thursday online game as we normally do, and I went through with my Cypher Unlimited chat as I’d scheduled. We can’t use distractions to hide from grief, but they can be good ways to catch our breath. My thanks to both the CU team and my BFRPG table for affording me that opportunity.
  3. I had a friend stop by last Friday to chat. That was nice. He’s been sucked into Numenera pretty hard and that’s fun to see.
  4. The Cosmere RPG Kickstarter has reached $7.1 Million dollars. This blows my mind. I’m glad for the team, but I probably won’t back it. And…they don’t need me to.
  5. Rifts for Savage Worlds is being reprinted, I’ll probably back that.
  6. I’m really pleased with my discord server. The conversation comes in waves, and it’s got kind people.
  7. It was fun watching the videos of the ENnies and seeing people with whom I’ve chatted. And I am so happy for Kelsey Dionne, what a great night.
  8. Come to Palmyra, NJ on September 28 and play a one shot! We’re raising money for Book Smiles.
  9. With all that’s happening in town right now, I won’t get my review of Grimwood City recorded this week. I did finish reading the book, though.
  10. I’m backed up a bit in my reviews because I took the time to read a couple of novels. That was time well-spent.
