Random TTRPG Thoughts #43

My car’s in the shop, the allergies are insane, and I’m still wiped from last week. But my brain is booting up and coffee has been imbibed so sparks are beginning to fly. These are random TTRPG thoughts.

  1. My friend, Dave Ward, successfully funded Ironbound. Not only that, he reached two stretch goals! Way to go, Dave!
  2. My Shadowdark gauntlet was a lot of fun! Now I need to finish up my Into the Odd adventure so I can run it for my friends at Avenue Studios!
  3. I am not happy with Monte Cook Games turning me into a deck goblin. Also, Monte Cook Games, do you have any decks coming out that I should know about?
  4. Three of the folks at my Shadowdark table, who had never played before, migrated their surviving characters to level 1 and took their sheets with them. Why? “In case we can use them next time.” That’s awesome.
  5. You can think a game has great product design, cool mechanics, and impeccable organization—but still feel like it’s not for you. And that’s OK.
  6. Knave 2e is mocking me. It’s mocking me and I won’t have it! This game is getting run soon.
  7. OK, who all is going to Pax Unplugged in December or PAGE2 in January?
  8. Playing with people who find joy laughing at their own absurdities is wonderful. Actually, that’s true for more than just around the table—it’s a life lesson.
  9. My super hero line up is, at present: the Marvel Multiverse RPG, Claim the Sky for Cypher System, the Super Powers Companion for Savage Worlds, and the Sentinel Comics RPG. That could be a good month of Super Hero content if I get my act together!
  10. I love Shadowdark’s initiative. Everyone rolls, the highest number goes first, and then it goes around the table from there. Fast, intuitive, with just a hint of trepidation that the GM is going to go early. It’s great.
