It’s Tuesday, I’ve just had my first sip of coffee, and the morning fog is lifting from my brain. I’m groggy and a tad chilly, but my mind is enjoying its morning boot up sequence in a quiet house. These are random TTRPG thoughts.
- Brewery TTRPG sessions are so much fun. It’s great to get out and about and just play somewhere. One day maybe folks still look over our shoulders and watch!
- I’ll finish writing my Pendragon Review this week. With any luck I’ll also get to record and edit the video!
- I got a kind message from Dragonmount Press, creators of the Zombie Road RPG, thanking me for my first look video. They were grateful for how I covered the mechanics and shared the game but, more important to me, they thought my critiques of the preview were constructive.
- I’m reading through the included dungeons in Heroes of Cerulea right now and The Legend of Zelda vibes are so strong. I’m going to have to play some of this with folks for the nostalgia alone!
- The charity actual play I’m running on October 22nd has a great cast. Dave from Grimwood Games, Dean from Cypher Unlimted, Dan from Avenue Studios, and Jorbin from Elder Goblin Games! A special shout out to Dave, who jumped right in to produce and host the stream.
- I ended up shuttering my Patreon and activating Channel Memberships on YouTube. I can set a lower price and it’s easier for me to add some value. Members get access to my discord, some members-only posts, and (when I get at least 10 members) I’ll do some members-only live stream AMAs. My normal videos will NOT pre-release to members, I can’t do that to folks who have been watching the channel for three years. If you’d consider joining, I’d be grateful.
- When I’ve finished my Pendragon review I’ll get to finish reading Claim the Sky and start diving into The Electric State. I am so excited!
- When I run a game I take on the role of host which, for me, bounds me to the rules of hospitality. I’m obliged to see that my guests feel welcome in the space I offer. My honored guests have a right to expect a welcoming space, but they also have obligations placed upon them by the rules of hospitality. Pooping on the table, for example, is really bad form. That’s a metaphor, but also never actually poop on someone’s table.
- The more I use Canvas of Kings to make town maps, the more I adore it. Such a cool tool! I’m grateful to Hannes Breuer for giving me access to the preview.
- I play TTRPGs because it affords me the opportunity to share all the daydreams in my head with other folks, and other players get to share theirs with me. There’s something wonderful about that experience.
