During the Fall allergy season I wander through life wondering why the trees find such joy hurting me. On the plus-side, I’ve had coffee, the house is quiet, and my allergy-inhibited brain is finds some moment to wander down its darkened neurological corridors. These are random TTRPG thoughts.
- Tonight, October 22, at 8PM I’ll be over on Dave Ward’s YouTube channel running Cypher System and raising money for Hurricane relief! Come on out to watch the chaos in the story, and help to rein in the chaos a lot of folks are experiencing in real life.
- I may finally get to conclude my BFRPG campaign this week! That’ll be fun.
- My deepest thanks to Monte Cook Games for donating a Cypher System Rulebook and a Cypher Starter Set to give away on the fundraising stream tonight!
- This past Saturday I got to run an Into the Odd one shot using a crawl I designed! My thanks to Avenue Studios for offering me the opportunity!
- John Fredericks, from Sharp Mountain Games, pitched “Supervember” to me, since I have so many Super Hero games I want to review. He even created the logo!
- I appreciate that I get to use my hobby to do a little bit of good. This is something I want to pursue more.
- Quick confession. The phrase “player agency” triggers mild annoyance in me because a lot of the time it seems to mean, “I have to always win.” I know that’s not what it’s supposed to mean, but it seems to be how it gets used.
- I paged through a copy of the 2024 Player’s Handbook the other day. It’s…fine. As a personal preference, I thought the color palette used for the artwork is just too bright and sunny. The art is technically excellent, but I want a little bit of grime in a game about adventurers.
- I’m toying with reaching out to a relief organization about the possibility of bringing games to people as part of second or third wave responses. Why? Because a role-playing affords people some moments when they feel like they can impact a story, when they feel like they have no say in their own. To put it another way, I want to give folks a moment of agency so they might see some hope for the rest of their existence.
- If you played the original The Legend of Zelda on the NES, then Heroes of Cerulea is a game made just for you.
