It’s the week after Easter Sunday and I’m on vacation! On the other hand, my late-season cold is hanging on and the trees are still trying to kill me. The coffee helps my brain to pretend it’s organized for a time. These are random TTRPG thoughts.
- The Community-Run Infinite Tabletop, or CRIT, is a free online convention running 24/7 from June 21-28. There are some great games being offered, so check it out!
- Some of the players in my Dragonbane group are getting twitchy. We’ve been off for a long while.
- If you’re in the South Jersey area, come on out to Brewery Thirty-Three from 5-8 PM on May 18 for Open Adventure! We’ll have three or four tables set up for folks to play some adventures. The games are free, but it’s “First come, first play.”
- I got to play the NUTS system (it’s not published just yet) last week on Grimwood Games channel. I played a squirrel nature monk to whom I gave a Miss Piggy-like personality. It was a blast!
- I’m running Sentinel Comics RPG for CRIT on June 25 at 8:30 Eastern. Wanna play?
- During CRIT friend Dave, from Grimwood Games, is going to be running a sci-fi adventure I wrote called “The Orshin Incident.” It’s an Index Card RPG adventure, using the “Warp Shell” setting. I hope folks enjoy it! Dave’s also converting it for NUTS and I’m really interested to see how it works.
- Why do I publish these with so many links? Three words, “Rabbit trails, enjoy!”
- One of my players got me a sweet GM screen for my birthday back in February and I was able to use it at Ecclesicon. Thanks Pete!
- I am grateful for the players, friends, game developers, event organizers, and channel members who make up the DM Tales discord. It’s become a nice space with a great vibe and you’re all the reasons why.
- Over my sabbatical I’ll be doing a good deal of reading. Playing at the World is in the queue, as is The Elusive Shift. I’m already reading Theology, Religion, and Dungeons & Dragons, and I would like to read Tabletop Role-Playing Therapy: A Guide for the Clinician Game Master.
- I may also pick up The Ultimate RPG Gameplay Guide. My overall goal is to explore how TTRPGs are helpful for community creation and how that function can be beneficial in the wake of a crisis.
