Random TTRPG Thoughts #16

Tuesday is the start of my work week, I spent my day off with a sick little, and there are multiple trains coming down the track 1. My morning coffee has been downed and my neurons are agitated. These are some random TTRPG thoughts.

  1. The Shadowdark funnel I’m in was cancelled last night due to many reasons. So I began working out how to play Dragonbane Solo. That might be a stream I do at some point.
  2. I started writing my review of the Ninth World Bestiary for Numenera. It’s become my favorite monster book and it’s already impacted my Numenera campaign.
  3. After a rant this past weekend I’m starting “Flat Paper People,” a call for TTRPG publishers to ditch glossy paper and its hideous glare. “Flat paper, it’s just better™ 2.”
  4. The Free Society of Book Ribbon Lovers will often caucus with the Flat Paper People.
  5. After our last few encounters I think my Basic Fantasy RPG table is rather freaked out. Which is good, because their world’s spiraling into disaster.
  6. If you meet someone who enjoys a different play style or game than you, even if you dislike that style or game, learn why that person enjoys it! You don’t have to agree, just seek to understand. And if that respect is given, maybe they’ll reciprocate and you can share what you enjoy about the games and styles you enjoy. Lectures and rants are boring 3.
  7. I have so many games I want to bring to the table. At this point a bunch of them are Cypher System Based.
  8. I may run a game at Philly Area Gaming Expo next year, trying to decide on which one.
  9. Come to Ecclesicon! There’s plenty of cool games and many open seats! It’ll be fun!
  10. I spent some of last week giving the DM Tales web-site a facelift. I hope you like it!

  1. Ecclesicon anxiety, Holy Week prep (being a pastor that’s kind of a big deal), and more! This list is brought to you by, The need for a long nap. Naps, why did we used to hate them?

  2. Not really trademarked, by the way.

  3. Unless they’re about flat paper.
