The Sun is out, the humidity is up, and I’m waiting for the coffee to brew. As my brain comes to grip that it’s both awake and not yet caffeinated my brain’s neurons are firing in all directions. Sometimes they hit on something coherent. These are random TTRPG thoughts.
- Free RPG Day was last Saturday. This day doesn’t get anywhere near enough coverage so I’m going to try to promote it next year.
- We brought in a new player to my Numenera table last night. This is his first campaign ever so it’s kind of exciting!
- A family friend’s middle-schooler rolled up a Dragonbane character this week. He did the random process and got an old halfling artificer who has a limp. Even better, he rolled terrible on his attribute scores so his whole character is formed around, “Don’t tell me I can’t do it, I was doing this before you were born!” And then fails at the check.
- When we started playing my Numenera campaign I picked a deck of cyphers. This have been a ton of fun. I may have to do a video on it!
- Last year Professor Dungeon Master declared July “Indie RPG month.” I’ve not seen an official announcement this year, but I think I’ll still cover some indies in July all the same.
- I need more folks at my Numenera table to get the core rule book. The page flipping to handle tier increases is the only thing I don’t like about the system. When the Numenera rules come to the Cypher System character builder that’ll help as well.
- Yesterday I was having fun rolling up random denizens for a potential Knave 2e world. That was a blast.
- The real experience points are the friends we make along the way.
- If you are looking for some nice convention-wear, check out my tee-shirts!
- I’m 67 subscribers away from 3000! I’m getting ready to give away a Cypher Core Rulebook!

Big thumbs up to #8. While I’m quite content to play Basic Fantasy, I’ve been able to enjoy any game with the friends I’ve made since the pandemic. They’re the real treasure of TTRPG.
