Random TTRPG Thoughts #34

It’s Wednesday. I’ve had coffee. but I also stayed up too late last night watching Olympic Highlights. My neurons are jumpstarting, but are encountering a lot of destructive interference. These are random TTRPG thoughts.

  1. I almost had a TPK in my Numenera game last night. That was wild, a couple of good rolls saved the party but it was close! The victory felt earned, and I like that.
  2. I’m working on the map for an Into the Odd one shot in October. I’m looking forward to this!
  3. Ecclesicon: Day of Adventure badges are on sale. There are six tables, and four different systems, being run! The fun happens 1-5 PM on September 28 in Palmyra, NJ. Proceeds, after the room usage fee, go to Booksmiles.org!
  4. I heard Jacob from Avenue Studios describe 2024 D&D as “It’s the same game, but I need to re-buy books.” I have to say this is a good point, but I had no intention of buying the books anyway so I am a tad biased.
  5. I get to continue on with my Basic Fantasy RPG game this week. I’m kinda of excited by what I have planned.
  6. This afternoon at 3PM Eastern I’m having some folks from Monte Cook Games on to Skipping Lunch to talk about their current backerkit campaign.
  7. There’s a lot of links in these random thoughts. Enjoy the rabbit trails!
  8. Last night one of my players forgot what his character’s name was. The reason? “I forgot what system we were playing!” I like that this is an issue because he’s played so many systems with me.
  9. The Forbidden Lands: Book of Beasts is sitting next to my desk. It sits below many books in my queue and mocks me.
  10. I’m going to have to create a list of local organizations I want to support though Ecclesicon events. I think that would be cool.
